Here’s a 3-step process that I use to take any song and play it with the slide. Download free transcriptions and resources for this lesson from http://www.onefingerguitarist.com/pageyt. This is an in-depth lesson which will be worth taking lots of notes from!

I’m in Open D tuning here and apply the process to the first 8 bars of Georgia on My Mind, but the tuning/song aren’t important – it’s all about the process, which you can apply to any tuning and song.

There’s some work involved in creating your own slide guitar arrangements of songs, but it’s definitely worth diving in and getting started with this, as it massively increases the repertoire you can play (and can also be applied to original music that you write).
