Here’s a short Derek Trucks style funk solo. The thought going into the solo was to use a lot of vocal lines, and to throw in some guitar lines up at the 17th fret. The thought also was to stick almost exclusively to the minor pentatonic scale (which is what happened except for the lick at 0:31, where I throw in the major 2nd to give more of a natural minor quality).

Considering slide is mostly associated with blues playing, and more recently gospel playing thanks to Trucks, how do we think the addition of slide playing to funk sounds?

Equipment Used:
-Gibson SG 1961 Reissue (Open E Tuning)
-Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (Ibanez TS9 Pedal–Drive: 2 o clock, Level: 3 o clock) mic’d with a SM58
-Franklin Guitar Strap
