Not an expert here but working on it heh heh.
Spent a little time learning some Stones tunes this past week. Putting together a Stones tribute act. Have great players in place. I had a 5 piece band in progress but 3 guys bailed so I took over. Pretty much have all the bases covered with tremendous response from respectable professional musicians in a 100 mile radius. Probably be ready to gig in a few weeks.
I was more of the lead player but it seems I need to cover the Keith parts and bark out harmony vocals. That’s cool. It feels like I have control over tempo and feel, structure and that stuff. Just need to refine my parts so it is effortless onstage. That is really how stuff works playing live. We do our work at home and when we get together we just lay it down nice and easy. It’s fun! I do end up playing some songs an enormous number of times but think how many times Keith has to play Honky Tonk Women so I’m not going to complain. I play songs I wrote in the 80’s to this day! He wrote HTW in what, 1969?
I’m a guitar teacher in Cedar Rapids, IA and have been teaching since the 70’s. I make videos to show examples I’d like my students to work on or share things that have been helpful to students. Please subscribe, like, comment and share. Always glad to know what you think.
