Today we are going to look at the foundation of blues on the guitar, this sounds excellent on the electric guitar as well as the acoustic guitar. Blues guitar for beginners can be a little overwhelming because instead of strumming chords like you would a beginner song tutorial you are playing something called a shuffle and to play the shuffle we need to make some changes. The first is a swing rhythm, so instead of playing on the 8th notes exactly you play the & notes a little late. That gives it a strong rhythm that moves more like a train down the tracks instead of a metronome. The other piece of that is a moving note that goes up and down and pitch so instead of a static chord we get something that has some movement to it harmonically, meaning movement in the chords. These combined make an easy to play rhythm idea that is much easier to play than it looks and it sounds super professional. This is also the foundation for how to layer up these ideas to take this basic but flashy sounding foundation to the next level.
