Jim i just tried the capo down three frets-much better ! I now have to get the right lyrics to the right chord progression as you can almost play it anyway but..that expression you reminded could well be wrapped into the right lyric and the right chord at the right time ..if that makes sense. I must listen again to your ‘cover’ of full song and watch carefully…
The cool thing about using a capo is you can move it up or down a few frets and hopefully find the right key to sing in, but still playing the same chords. As for *don’t sing well in any key" don’t forget – they said Dylan couldn’t sing (some still say that) but it’s all about how to express yourself through the song, and Dylan sure knows how to do that. I’ve heard many a good voice fail to give a song feeling/emotion/expression. Have faith in yourself.. ditch any inhibitions, and press GO!.
just great – so patiently/well taught, think i will get it even! much thanks LJ.
Shame I cant sing at that key….(dont sing well in any key but…)
Anyways just a few hrs tonight and I nearly have an old fav’ well on its way if not under my belt yet..Will be back for some more……
woooww you really can teach!! your lessons are far the best on youtube xD i was wondering do you know the song, nobody cept you? i cant learn how to play it well… can u teach us ?
Sorry Raffa – but I know you Lancashire lads always relish a challenge from the White Rose
Thanks very much for the lesson:- )
You’re welcome – thanks for your support. You are right about the strings; lighter strings are for those folks who are used to playing electric guitars!
Thanks for taking the time to do these great video lessons, i always learn something from them besides how to play the tune. They always improve my timing and chord knowledge.I used to have problems with sliding but found that I was using extra light strings and too much pressure.A change in strings light 12-53 provides a better tone and an easier slide. Perhaps a novice excuse but it works 🙂
‘Twas going great, I got it sussed and then you throw in the showy-off bits which are now a must. Hee hee. Wonderful stuff, Jim. Thanks amundo.
Thanks very much Michael – good luck with the song; let me know how you go!
