Blues Guitar Lessons www.playbluesguitar.eu Scrapper Blackwell was an extremely creative blues man, always adding that extra unusual chord combination to put a unique stamp on his songs. this open D songs follows that general rule of surprising the listener, but also has enough cliché inside it too keep us comfortable – (my, my – erudite Jim) Another thing I like about Blackwells stuff is the way he puts the words together. When he sings I left my baby in the back door cryin you can just about see it. When he sings hes got the blues, you just know he has and hes had them all his life. It just comes over. If you going for blues guitar lessons and want to learn authentic acoustic blues guitar, dont just go for the standard stuff that one plays. Search out the work of Scrapper, Floyd Council, Pink Anderson, Gus Cannon, Bo Carter and loads of other minor figures. One of the most unsung artists – he deserves a lot more recognition. Hope you like it, Cheers Jim

  1. You have great right hand technique Jim not as good as Mc Tell but great none the less, enjoyed your rendition, nice song.

  2. Would love to see a video lesson for this and any others in open D. Great job as allways!

  3. Very cool. Love watching you play and talk. You always have that capo somewhere on that fretboard. Maybe your guitar gets a buzz on some strings without putting that capo on. I have seen people do that for that reason. (jk) lol love your stuff. Just pickin with ya. I try to not use a capo but couldn’t play that way with out it very good as you well know. Keep on keepin on and merry christmas.
