The first time I heard Mick Taylor’s incomparable playing I was hooked. His solo on “Winter” embodies all of the qualities that made him such a standout player: feel, lyricism, and that incredible silky vibrato. He provided a perfect complement to Keith’s raunchy and spikier approach (not that Keith was any slouch in the lead—-or any other—-department). In this lesson I dissect this fantastic and deceptively simple solo along with Keith’s open-tuned rhythm part. I hope you enjoy it. Special thanks to www.GrezGuitars.com
CORRECTION: At 5:28, he doesn’t actually do the pull-off; he simply plays C#-B-A. This has been bugging me so I figure I’ll correct it before someone else spots my error and calls me on it, lol.
