Roadhouse Blues Guitar Lesson (Soloing Guitar Lesson)
The other day I was sitting relaxing on the couch in my living room when I heard the phone ring in the other room.
My wife answered it on speaker phone and she said “Hello”.
Guess who it was…
(Robby Krieger from the Doors was calling my wife)
I recognized his voice from the other room and thought “Man that’s cool”!
You see, my wife is a badass session singer here in Los Angeles.
She’s sung for Disney movies, tons of television projects, the list goes on and on…
But she was working with Robby on a new project at a local studio one of our friends owns…
Anyway, she hung up the phone, and I said, “Who was that honey?”
And she was like “Oh that was Robby.”
Now this same thing has happened many times.
In the past, it’s been Andy Summers, from the Police.
…Other times it was Nile Rodgers…
To be honest, I’m just trying to keep up with her…
But Robby Krieger is an amazing guitarist.
He plays without a pick. And one thing I love about his playing is it’s rooted in the blues.
So today I’ve got a lesson for you on how he plays lead over the classic Doors tune “Roadhouse Blues”
The entire solo section is a jam over just one chord, E.
And E is one of the best keys to play in as a guitarist…
So if you would like to add some new blues licks to your lead-playing arsenal… Then my challenge for you today is to watch this lesson and practice some of these licks…
