There are so many recordings of this song, and many people think it is a Chuck Berry composition. Not so, it was penned by Bobby Troup in 1946. One of my many regrets is that I never traversed the legendary highway from Chicago to Los Angeles when I lived in the USA, although I did travel along parts of it. The route was officially decommissioned in 1985.
