In this lesson we start learning how to play single note melodic lines by playing the D Major, D Minor and Major Pentatonic Scales AND the Blues Scales derived from both Pentatonic Scales. We discuss the importance of achieving precision when landing on a note, applying muting behind the slide and applying vibrato. Finally, we’ll learn how to add an alternating bass pattern with our thumb as we learn the scales and practice our technique. Next week, in lesson 4 of this series, we’ll learn and arrange our first tune, “when the Saints Go Marching In.”
