CORRECTION: NOTE – I say in the video Johnny Winter is TUNED to A#, sorry I meant to say he’s probably tuned to Open G with a capo on the third fret, making the songs in A# 12 bar blues (LONG 1 intro) blues. I believe Johnny Winter tunes his steel resonator guitar in open G tuning and capo’s the third fret as this tune is in A# 12 Bar Blues (Long I).
I’m transposing Johnny Winter’s fantastic blues slide riffs in the style of Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule; Allman Brother’s; Grateful Dead & too may to others to list) so that means i’m going to play/slide this song in my personal slide tuning favorite teetering between STANDARD TUNING and Drop D tuning. It’s a personal Choice. I prefer Drop D so i can emulate an open tuned guitars low register noted chords in a straight line – if your lost ask in comments and i’ll send more info!

For the sake of more players learning to slide in standard or easy to tune to drop D, i figured i’d transcribe it and make some videos. this is LESSON part 1 of ?
I’m playing one of my favorite guitars a Gibson USA Les Paul Custom 1994 Ox Blood Red. Signed by Johnny Winter (about 15 years ago) and Warren Haynes (about 26 years ago)
