Rollin’ And Tumblin’ – slide guitar lesson in open G tuning with tab

This is the way I play this song. But of course there are many other different ways to play it. It has been interpreted by hundreds of blues artists and also blues rock bands, like Muddy Waters, R.L. Burnside, Johnny Winter, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and so on. The solo I played here is in the style of Canned Heat.
Other blues songs also use this same melody and riff idea, such as If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day by Robert Johnson or Rollin’ Blues by John Lee Hooker.
Check out also Eric Clapton’s version of If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2004.

It’s a 12 bar Minor-Blues. Chords are:

You can play different scales. I like these two:

Another good way is, when you change the pentatonic-scales with the chords. So you play
– A-Minor pentatonic over Am: https://youtu.be/l8y3g2xRiRI
– D-Minor pentatonic over Dm: https://youtu.be/DYF4fcTzjxY
– E-“altered” pentatonic [E-G-G#-C-D] over E
That sounds complicated, but it´s not, because you always just need to change one note from you Am-Pentatonic. Over Dm you Change the E to F, and over E you change the A to G#.
