Slide guitar playing traces go back to one an old African instrument known as “didley bow.”

Often described as “bottleneck” style, this kind of playing was mostly popularized in the southern USA, most predominantly Mississippi Delta. And as blues developed and became more popular so did the slide guitar.

Even to this day, it is recognized as one of the most expressive ways of playing guitar since it allows players to have real glissandos and really delicate vibratos, similar to those of fretless instruments. So now, we will be honoring some of the best slide guitar players of all time.
