The ellis handcrafted Weissenborn acoustic lap slide guitar features Australian Blackwood back and sides and high figured flamed Australian Blackwood soundboard with hollow chamber neck and solid headstock. The fretboard and bridge are solid Ebony from India.

Weissenborn guitars have a hollow neck, that runs the entire length of the body, making conventional playing completely impossible. Originally Weissenborn guitars were made from hawaiian koa wood. We offer ours in Australian Blackwood which is like the brother or sister of hawaiian koa wood. In the 1920´s and 1930′s Hermann Weissenborn built Weissenborn acoustic guitars. He made them for Hawaiian Lap Guitar players.  Less than 500 were made and not many have survived. The Weissenborn acoustic guitar is having a revival. Thanks to players such as John Butler, Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd and Andrew Winton. We aim to replicate these sounds in our weissenborn acoustic guitar.
