In this acoustic blues lesson we’ll focus on the absolute most important thing that you need in order to get started playing slide guitar. You may have guessed it….a slide!

But seriously, this lesson is more about what you don’t need to confuse yourself with when you’re getting into blues slide guitar. You DON’T NEED:

– To start out with open tunings
– To setup a guitar specifically for slide
– To run out and buy a new guitar.

What you really need to focus on is getting good clean notes from your slide playing and ignoring all the rest. Many good blues slide players like Mississippi Fred McDowell and others used crude setups and made amazing music.

Keep it simple and just get started.

Those other things can help, but if you’re just starting out, put them on a shelf as concepts to explore later. First, get going!

Play On!
