This must be a first: Autumn Leaves on slide guitar! After looking into this tune for a fingerstyle lesson, I learned that it’s a very important tune for jazz players to study, especially when it comes to improvising. I’m still not sure why that is. I keep track of the chords when I improvise lines, and this tune has a wonderful set of chords. I love melody, and I discover decades ago the melody loves chord tones and that’s what I keep track of. I was never keen on scales and modes and solos played at break-neck speed.

If you’d like to learn more about chord tone soloing, being able to see the entire fretboard as ‘the chord’ (I call it the superchord), drop into https://www.planetalkguitar.com

I also have a course on playing slide guitar in standard tuning, as I am doing in this video, drop into my other site: https://www.guitaralorange.com
