I typically hear my beginners play it really timid, which I understand and is a natural issue when starting to play guitar…

But if you pay attention to your picking hand and rest the pick on the lower string, it evens out how you pick the notes, keeps the distance consistent, and allows for a little more aggressive pick attach which gives a bit more snap to the sound.
