  1. Yes a lot of country blues guitarists played the E chord with a double-stop (middle finger fretting the A and D strings). I think this freed up the ring and pinky fingers to reach other notes.

  2. I love the music of Big Bill. I play my blues records to my 3 year old son, and he loves them too, especially Big Bill, Leadbelly and Memphis Slim!

  3. I keep coming back to this. Beautiful, relaxed performance. A glimpse at how Big Bill played for himself and family and friends. Love it. I wish I could play or sing 1/4 that well.

  4. My God Father, Bill sat with my Dad in a Chicago Hospital waiting for my Mom to give birth to me.

  5. What a talented guy – even though I was minus 16 at that time, his music draws me in!

  6. Reminds me of the acoustic footage of Hendrix, the same elegance and simplicity but so much sound! Hendrix is just really a stepping stone or rather a milestone perhaps, maybe the last one – much all like all these great bluesmen but going electrical and psychedelic and all… the style and his roots are evident though, learned the guitar just the same way as these people, listening and copying – such a great ear for music. Which more or less explains that all of them could sing.

  7. A Giant Amongst The Original Delta Blues Talents. Magnificent.

  8. The tune that Bill is playing at the end of the video, ‘How You Want It Done?’ was one he first recorded in 1930 (27 yrs earlier) & it’s so great that we have this candid footage of him trying to remember one of his old tunes & stumbling a bit in the process . . . gold!

  9. Simply WOW!!! Def the last tune… made me have to pick my guitar up and learn….

  10. Its one that Bill put there himself, i think it says Big Bill Broonzy.

  11. isn’t the first song the lyrics to stump blues? is there an album version of the first song? i need it!

  12. realy???? I am a big fan of BBB…. he was and is still magic
