In this lesson I talk about an “exercise /concept which can help improve you phrasing a lot.
Pick 6 or less notes (frets) and stick to those notes as long as possible when you play.
For example, if you play a blues, play those 6 different frets for at least 12 bars. This will force you to come up with new phrases and ideas.
When you have the whole pentatonic box or boxes at your disposal, it’s very easy to end up in the “trap” where you play your scale up and down, without actually thinking about your note choices.
