  1. Jim, any chance you have a lesson for Forever in bluejeans by Neil Diamond…… Excellent job on everything else you do.. Thanx, Billy Pratt

  2. Fingernails – I’ve tried fingerpicks but could never get on with them!

  3. Do you have very long fingernails or are those picks?

  4. oh i would love to play that correctly jim, many times i’ve done it and it just dont sound right /by the way i think you deserve a knighthood or somrthing for sevices to discoureged guitarists god bless to you and yours ste(hanghang71)

  5. Great job. How bout "it’s alright ma (I’m only bleeding)" that’s a fun one but sounds tricky to decipher exactly whats happening

  6. That’s great Paul – good luck with learning this song. For very smooth sliding and speedy movement around the strings take a look at "Fastfret"; it’s not expensive and works well.

  7. Hi Jim My guitar is a TW1000 and the set up appears to be very good as the previous owner was a very good fingerstyle player.1mm at the 12th fret.My fingers would be prevented from sliding easily often getting stuck.I came down today read your comments and was instantly abe to slide so I guess I was applying too much pressure and looking for a different reason. Thanks for getting back and the great lessons.cheers-Paul

  8. The "Knack" is to position fingers within frets as close as possible to the next fret but still letting the notes ring clearly (too close & notes will "thud"; too far away & the strings will be subject to "fret-buzz"). This also requires just enough finger pressure on the fretboard (not too much that your fingers hurt!). Obstacles to clean picking will include high action (too large a gap between strings and frets- quite common) or fretwires set too high (unlikely). What problems specifically?

  9. Jim , I have alot of problems sliding with two staggered fingers e.g 13/14th fret or in this case three fingers on the same fret, is there a knack to it or do I need ‘learning persistence’ to refine the shift.A bad workman blames his tools could my frets be to high?Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks

  10. A mind of information , thank you for the lesson Jim gr8t delivery 🙂
