I’ve wanted to cover this song for a long time, but its one that intimidated me quite a bit so I always put it off. I re-watched Cowboy Bebop again, and decided now is as good a time as any to cover it.
Something about this song captivated my from the first moment I heard it, the beginning of it most of all. Something about the slight phaser on the guitar, the bass and the brass sections, the overall mood of it, its just an incredible piece of music.
I initially was trying to think of ways to metalize it, but couldn’t come up with anything. I decided I really just wanted to do a more standard cover of it, just trying to do it all with guitars, while still adding some of my own stuff, etc. Figuring this whole thing out by ear proved quite challenging in some parts, but was also fun just writing/changing parts that worked for me.
