This is my arrangement of a traditional scottish ballad. The words to this tune are attributed to Sir Walter Scott. My arrangement is in Open D Tuning, created for an article on Open D In Acoustic Guitar Magazine (to appear shortly). Im playing a wonderful Pierre Bensusan Model Lowden guitar that I reviewed in the January 2001 Issue of Acoustic Guitar.

  7. Amazing Doug, as your latest CD! With this arrangement from your added tabs I really discovered that my 2011 "coco" (its is a similar F35 as you play) also likes to sing and sing and sing … Thanks!

  8. Best compliments!… really a lovely arrangement and rendition!… Great!…

  9. I’ll buy the arrangement when it’s finished. This is acoustic playing at it’s best.

  10. yes, it’s just the main verse. I haven’t tabbed out the intro/interlude or higher octave verse yet. on my todo list!

  11. Doug, is the version in the July AG, the same as what is available on the AG website as a free download? Because the 2nd octave section…just hauntingly beautiful, is not included there 🙁

  12. Tab’s finally out in the July 2011 issue of Acoustic Guitar. One of these days, I’ll get the whole thing done, with the intro/interlude parts, but the basics are there in the July issue.

  13. Thanks, glad you liked it! Yes, the article got delayed a bit, but it’s still coming, soon, I hope!

  14. Simply beautiful, Doug! Is this arrangement still going to be in AG?

  15. Doug,
Excellent!! What a beatiful arrangement of one of my favorite songs. I’m looking forward to the article in AG. That guitar is beautiful and has an extremely nice tone. Keep up the good work.
