This blues guitar lesson aims to help guitarists who can play a little, are frustrated with following sheet music or tab, and want to improvise their own blues. I have tried to make it really easy, so there are no chords to hold down or difficult stretches. I havent even included any bends or slides, as these can make it hard for beginners to follow whats going on. Everything is simplified to the very basics to offer the simplest start. If you enjoy this and want to learn more, then there are lots of great videos by proper teachers out there to take you forward. I think Marty Schwartz is one of the best. Justin Sandercoe is excellent too. They can show you how to add expression and sophistication to your blues. This video offers just the very first step. I started as a classical guitarist, reached a level of mediocrity which spanned many years, occasionally bought tutorial books on blues which didnt click with me, then eventually battled through to understand how blues really worked. I found I could finally make up little blues tunes about a year ago. Once I had made a start and could play something at least, then adding progressively more expression and sophistication came fairly naturally. Being able to play something made it possible for me to understand and learn more. I thought it would be good to share the easiest starting point I could imagine with others, while I could still clearly remember how hard it was at the start.
