Our main guy and manager Thomas managed to capture me playing some laid back blues today in the studio while trying out sounds for the album.
This is how I like to sit and play when I’m on my own and it also usually gives me inspiration for melodies, new licks and ideas doing this. Today I tried out a new microphone combination , Stager SR-2N, Beyerdynamic M160 and SM57. It worked out very good and even though the sound to this video is just recorded with an Iphone you can hear that there’s both nice low end and mid in the sound. No EQ at this point just a blend of the microphones. Also using a SSL 9000 desk doesn’t make things worse and the amp is in the big recording room so we get a little bit of nice natural room reverb.
If you’re interested in blues music you’ll hear a lot of influences in my playing but to mention a few: Billy Gibbons, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Reed (let me know if you spot where I do his famous move), BB King (and the rest of the Kings) among many more.
I hope you’ll enjoy this little video, it’s a short sneak peak from a day in the studio and don’t worry, there where some heavy thunderous and doomy riffs recorded today as well!
