I’m really into all things classic Clapton, specifically from The Bluesbreakers though Cream, Blind Faith, and then Derek and the Dominos. Layla and Assorted Love Songs has some killer tunes on it, especially this one. Here’s what I did to pay homage:
– First, I figured out the chord progression
– Then, I transcribed the vocal melody, taking note of where the gaps are – perfect for applying fills
– Next, I looked for ways in incorporate CAGED doublestops, and whatever other sweet licks I heard Duane and Eric play – fun stuff!
