In this slide guitar lesson “Hoochie Coochie Man Slide Guitar in Open A Tuning” I show some of my own ideas playing “Muddy Waters” “I’m a Hoochie Coochie Man”, written by Willie Dixon in Open A. I improvise a lot and never play it the same way twice. I’m tuned to Open G but using a guitar capo at the second fret which makes it Open A. Just explaining that for anyone who’s a beginner.

This is a standard tuning song transposed, but I’ve worked the licks and chords out in open tuning. I’ve also worked out “James Cottons” basic harmonica lick in a way I like. I just switch back and forth between the two.

Though it’s a simple song, like most blues songs, it isn’t easy and can be tricky in spots. But it’s a very recognizable blues riff, like most of “Muddy Waters” songs as well as other early Chicago Blues Songs.

Here’s the link to the song Hoochie Coochie Man. Play along with it and you’ll figure it out in no time. I play it many different ways myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5QKpsVzndc
