At 59 years old,and two sons at 13,and 14 years old,I feel this "CAT" has become a prodigy of the man himself.I want to hear the Filmore East Opening Song "S B Blues" and if I think he will fill the bill, you’ll know it! If there is a single song that identifies a Guitarist,it’s this song!Even as old as I’ve become,I still turn this song as loud as it will go,and if you don’t you have never felt that "BLUES" on Steroids that Duane,a.k.a. Sky Dog delivered in this single song.

Looks like open E, because Statesboro Blues is in D and the home position for this lesson is at the 10th fret. Notice how he’s blocking the strings he’s not playing with the right hand. That’s the key to playing good slide!

I have heard alot of slide guitarists before, but this dude has the nastiest, ballsiest sound around. I wonder what amp he is using, and what kind of pick-ups he has in that 335? BTW, if you like this fat sound, get anything by Elvin Bishop…better yet, see him live–he still plays in small clubs, and you can get right up there–he uses ancient ES-345’s

The great thing about trying to emulate someone else’s playing is that no matter how much you try, you’re always going to sound like you. Even better, all that time you thought you spent trying to sound like someone else turned out to be time spent studying what got you off in the first place! In this case, the blues. You win twice…How cool is THAT!

What I notice about this clip is that it’s Okay to play slide slightly flat, in fact it sounds pretty cool.
