  1. Glad it help!!!! that was is the whole point, to help someone else down the musical road!!!!!

  2. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’ve been trying to learn the frailing (clawhammer) banjo for the past year or more and I could not get that right hand rhythm down no how until watching your videos. Good demo’s.

  3. Yes I play a C chord with just 2nd string first fret, and 4th string second fret….it has a more full sound that way I think….hope this helps!!!!
    best regards cj

  4. I like your rendition, I’ve been wanting to learn that song for a while. I printed out the tab from your web page and I’m trying to follow along. I get lost right after the first "hammer on" on the 2nd fret – 3rd string. I think you say "then play a C chord." When I look at my fingering chart for C chord, it looks different than what you are doing. Are you just omitting using the 1st string as part of the chord?

  5. yes your right I have a tendency to tune all my instruments a little lower, thanks for pointing that out….

  6. Its a good tutorial, I’ve gotta warn people though. If you’re having trouble playing along its because his banjo is about an eighth-step flat

  7. What are you doing in the last seconds of the vid with your right and left hands?? i have everything down until then!

  8. yes I will, might take a day or to thanks for the interest!!

  9. Thanks for the tabs. It would make more sense if you had included the bar lines.
If you don’t know the tune it would be impossible to follow.
Could you add the bar lines please
    Thanks

  10. Is clawhammer, a kind of banjo? or a kind of technique? Can I buy any kind of banjo and use any technique? thanks

  11. Grat job on the video, this is my first song I’m learning thanks to you. I am having some trouble following, so I have been writting a tab with you verbal instructions. I am stuck on the struming parts, they just don’t sound right. would it be much trouble for you to email me a written tab? I think I am not recording it right. thanks…

  12. I have a rogue banjo that I put nylon strings on for that more plucky sound. It give a great warm sound and is easier on your finger nails. You should give it a try, but you will probably need to get a no-knot tailpiece. Instead, I made one out of mahogany. It works great.

  13. it is a Rogue brand banjo, the company was started in 1983, it is made in china, I bought it off the local craig’s list because I wanted something cheap to get started with….I took it all apart and set it up, lowered the bridge, it settled in pretty well after a couple of months, it has no tone ring, but it has a 5 ply, probaply birch rim..which makes me think it is fairly old…i don’t think it sounds too bad at all..
for what it is….thanks for watchin!!!

  14. what kind of banjo is that and what tone ring?

  15. thanks i’m glad you found it helpful, i’m definitely new to the banjo myself, i find that clawhammer is such amazing dramatic style, it is wonderful….punch up Adam Hurt on youtube it is just freakishly good!!!!!! best regards cj

  16. Good teaching job. It’s a relatively easy tune, even for me, after I watched this a few times. I’m a beginner (6 months) and anxious to learn any way I can! Thanks.
