1st take, just like 30 yrs ago, this time with new mistakes, dont copy them, make your own. All that counts really are the 2 main themes, with the descending coda(?) everything else was improvised then and now, (I think I stole a little from early Leo Kottke in the middle). It might be the most famous "throw away" piece of guitar music with the most ridiculous name. "They" wanted one more instrumental from me for the "Acoustic Guitar Scene" LP in 1973(?) so I played this little simple thing that Id been playing around with, but never considered worth-while to develop into a "real" piece. Because I had left Germany to drive overland to India very soon after, I didnt know until a stranger told me a year later in Katmandu, that it was playing on German TV. I myself never ever saw it, once walking into a room as the Balloon picture faded out. I did though receive royalties through the GEMA, until they discontinued playing it. Without that exposure I doubt people would remember my name. A thank you to the nameless TV guy who chose it, and a lesson in irony.

Das Lied habe ich vor ziemlich genau 30 Jahren im Gitarrenunterricht gelernt. Ist einfach nur schön und hat viel Spaß gemacht. Wahrscheinlich würde ich es häufiger spielen, wenn man nicht jedes mal die Gitarre neu stimmen müsste 😉 !

Einfach wunderschön! Schon als Kind habe ich mich auf das Pausenbild des NDRs gefreut! Dann bekam ich ne gebrannte CD von Ulli Bögershausen mit dem Stück und dachte das sei von ihm! Und heute finde ich etwas mehr über dieses zeitlose Stück Musik heraus!

Dear Klaus. You know how these things are going. So many articts are haunted by their own creations, which made them famous :D. I don’t know if you ever heard under what circumstances Keith Jarrett had to play his (in)famous concert in cologne. There you have it. 😉 On the other hand the both of you made people curious about a special kind of music, the instrument and yes the composer, too. This piece makes almost any stress fade away, lets me find some fresh energy. So thanks.

Zu was wurde das Lied genau gespielt im Fernsehen? War das ein Übergang zum Regionalprogramm beim ARD oder so?
Ich kann mich auf jeden Fall erinnern das Lied als Kind in den 80ern häufiger im Fernsehen gehört zu haben.
