    I use the A, D and G string from a standard acoustic set. The tuning is GDG. I did a video on how to play a cigar box guitar which gives a short overview. It may help get you started. Check out the link above.

    you can build one your self for about 5 bucks and its super simple and fun. i just finished one and it took about a week. you can find instructions online or in instruction books.
