@iaingbrennan You only need heavier strings if you’re playing with a bottleneck slide. Lighter strings (at least on the 5,4 and perhaps 3 string) would be better with this kind of playing.

Looks like a 914 possibly. I have an 814 which is absolutely magic to play but the 914 is another step up.

@iaingbrennan Others are welcome to weigh in. I’ve personally played 22 years, have owned about 10 guitars over the years and never damaged one due to tuning. In terms of strings, again, no real difference but I vary brands by guitar type, like Martins on acoustic, like d’Addario on electrics….

@iaingbrennan You will enjoy it, you’ll play more. I personally had another brand for my acoustic, and find that I play an acoustic more often now that I have a Taylor…
