  1. one of the best if not the best slide guitarist ive ever witnessed. unreal….

  2. it seems someone doesn’t quite get the concept of a side guitar.

    g

  3. cooder is one of the best of all time your favorite guitar player listens to him pussies

  4. I didint know he was underrated.I hear good things about him alot of places.

  5. such beauty and grace…Ry Cooder must be the most underrated performer ever

  6. It is slide guitar he is playing…you purposely hit below or above the note and them move on it…beautiful.

  7. a jewel… written by Dan Penn and Chips Moman. Spooner did the keyboards on a lot of Dan’s songs. They remain tight. and Ry…. a friggin’ master player and musicoligist.. hat’s off

  8. thats really playing you moron…go listen to putrid sludge like john mayer

  9. For people who don’t groove with the "sour" notes, hey, didn’t your momma tell you, if all you ever eat is sweets,

    you’ll rot your teeth!

If you can’t get behind the bit after 2:20,

    you got no soul

    and no teeth left!

    Great song, great version

  10. @rogerredcat…yeah, Clapton, Hendrix, Page…they are the top guitar players for NON-guitar players! Ask any non-player who the best guitar player is, one or all of those names will come out….not that they are bad by any means, but not nearly as good as their credits would seem to indicate…

  11. YouTube clip, sorry I didn’t say where to LOOK FOR IT.

  12. @rogerredcat – suggest we keep in mind that most of these little dirty diapered weenies commenting on YouTube are measuring this masterpiece (soul) against the pitch corrected processed JoBro horses*@&t they hear in the plastic copycat burn ’em out and throw ’em away mainstream 2010.

  13. if archive stuff like this was found on clapton -hendrix etc it would be fawned over.thnx for posting ,cooder dont get praise he deserves.dont miss the point here its live and a concert atomosphere off the cuff playing chuckin out how he wants,do you want every piece sounding like a stale cd ,seen him play this song dozen times and always different and unforgettable, appreciate him while he is here its gonna be a sadder place without him.

  14. such a distinctive beautiful slide sound, one of my favorites besides j.garcias pedal steel playing, you kind of drift away with it

  15. Love Ry Cooder–his "sour" notes sound
way better than most slides’ good notes !!
Thanks for this excellent rendition of one
    of my favorite songs.
