This is a free violin course for beginners by Violin Stars. There is an instructional PDF file that goes along with this lesson which can be downloaded for free from our website www.violinstars.com In this lesson Kim will teach you how to play some open string rhythms. By starting with just open strings it allows you to really focus on developing your bowing skills before introducing the more complicated technique of using the left hand as well. Kim has been teaching the violin for 5 years and has taught private lessons and classes in local schools. She started the Violin Stars website during the summer of 2008 and has been teaching many students online since then. She has worked with over 100 students through her online teaching and has had excellent results. Kim enjoys teaching and she loves to chat with others about music, so if you have any questions or would just like to chat, send her an email at zclipse@embarqmail.com

  1. hi, i’m just wondering why do you always start on a downward stroke of the bow? could some please help me with this! thank you

  2. thank you so much for this great video it was really helpfull

  3. Funny can mean allot of things. Is it ringing? Could be a loose fine tuner. Is it shifting out of tune as you "fret" it, could be a bad or misplaced bride/sound peg. How old are the strings? It is a cheapo Chinese junk violin?

  4. I have been playing on and off for around 5 years now. I can say without a doubt this is great advice. Keep on keeping on.

  5. Zclipse i’m thinking of starting the violin but i dont know which one i should buy. My friend has a violin and i tried playing it but 3/4 was alittle small but 4/4 might be too big

  6. thank you so much for putting this up here i was practicing outside of my school this morning for my recital this afternoon and a girl said you had videos up here and i wanted to check them out and they are great i learned things about my violin i didnt even know from just the first few videos. thank you sooo much my violin instructor will be pleased with my advancedment.

  7. Thank you very much for taking the time to teach the world the violin. I already notice progress since paying attention to your instructions. People like you make the world a better place 😀

  8. I play piano and flute well already, and always wanted to learn violin or cello. I have little patience with myself, likely because I’m not used to being bad at an instrument. XD I appreciate these videos so far and your teaching style. It’s so much better to have a guide than to tinker badly with the violin on my own.

  9. rosin is a hard clear thing on a cloth. you need to scratch it first with sandpaper or a coin to make it look kinda powdery then rub it on your horsehair try looking at ebay or a music store

  10. Thank you for this video. It really helped me e lot. My instructor is not really good at explaining but for me, you did a great a job. I’m just a beginner but I think I’ll learn fast.
