I find it a little tough to use a slide on strings that are tuned so loosely, eg, the high E is tuned all the way down to C. Im pretty sure he used an electric 12-string for the main guitar part, tuned to open G, and then slowed the tape so it sounds like F. I just tuned to open G (DGDGBD) and then down a whole step.
That’s a typo. I fixed it.
isn’t open G DGDGBD because in the description it says BGDGBD
I haven’t watched it in a long time, but I’m pretty sure that’s how they did it at their Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
can be done in regular tuning too just play in e instead of f if you dont want to bother
with tuning to f
never give up.
I give up.
this song is tuned to f .
Are are asking him to embark on an hours-long task for your benefit, and you won’t even take off the Caps Lock or write more than two words????
Another great video. I have a question: when you tune down that low, do you put thicker strings on your guitar? And what gauge do you normally use? I just bought a new Gibson Les Paul and am looking for recommendations on strings.
Always a pleasure watching your covers, it puts me in a happy place. Also it gives me an idea how I can attempt to cover this note for note. Thanks privettricker for the videos
Open G, down a step. That’s AFCFAC.
TABS PLEASE
Ok, then whats BGDGBD called for short? You said " I just tuned to open G (BGDGBD) and then down a whole step". DGDGBD is open G tuning though.
No, just one.
Wow, so there’s 2 open G tunings?
No effects, just straight into a Marshall AVT 50H half-stack. It’s hard to get the proper tone on this particular song without a 12-string electric, though.
Great cover! I’d like to know what amp and effects you are using if possible, and what settings they are? I can never seem to get a good Led Zeppelin sound happening.
Jimmy generally tuned open g as dgdgbd. dropping open G it a whole step makes it open F
i read it in the led zepp book. whats he says is true. track was slowed down
you should make a tutorial… i need a little help on the solo
I like how you use a ratchet nut as the slide. Good to know I’m not the only freak who does that. lmao
give me your address so i can come to you in the middle of the night and kill you and take your les paul and this SG.
Could you please give a reference to where and when Jimmy said this?
ok thanks and your guitar playing is spot on.
