  1. Implying this version is worse than Nirvana’s.

  2. Kid cudi’s version is even better

  3. so much hate, the blues has enough of that. love one another for their differences <3

  4. Im pretty sure he did to, since he quoted before that performance "This song is written by my performer…are favourite performer? Isnt it all of ours? You like him the best? (talking to the other members of Nirvana)"

  5. Tout viens du blues…. de toute façon.

  6. each version of this song is moving this one has more of a southern blues/mexican feel where as the nirvana cover is more ….i cant think of the perfect word but it definitely strikes your soul

  7. I think it’s silly when people are insulting Nirvana about this song, they so conveniently that Kurt Cobain was a Leadbelly fan.

  8. I asked my grandpa if he had ever heard this song he said yes and then i said ok well hear this one and i let him hear the nirvana version he said right off the bat leadbelly but i disaggress

  9. you listen to this version and you really feel his expression. but in nirvana you feel kurts feel for the song. its like when you hear it, you know kurt personally and all of his problems with society. but when you listen to any of his songs it gives you a chill like kurt is watching from above jamming with leadbelly.

  10. Leadbelly recorded several versions of this song including some where he used ( my girl ) instead of ( black girl)

  11. Well you wouldn’t be the first. The further you look into Cobain the more you realise he was an over glorified drug abuser/wife abuser/friendship abuser/ violent nasty person. People should hear versions of this song before he trashed it to hear how it was supposed to be, without the changes. Didn’t think Cobain of all people wouldn’t have the balls to say "Black Girl" instead of "My Girl"

  12. This song wasn’t written by Lead Belly though… it’s a folk song that dates back to the 1800s.

  13. Yeah, but you gotta give Kurt respect for giving respect. Most people just say the guy only liked The Pixies. I think Lead Belly was more in line with the man’s tragic train of thought. Guys like Ledbetter are important. This guy was like Prince, you could give him anything and he could play it. The people today whose music most people buy can’t play a goddamn thing. Just rip lyrics from eachother and pay somebody else to make a backing track to it.
