  1. @groovydjs Ehh youre not that old, my pop ( girlfriemds dad) hes 50 and my own dads is a young fellow, 44. Everyday i swear i keep looking and acting like him.

  2. You are SOOOOOOO much better than folks my own, old age! LMAO!

  3. Hi my friend! Very cool. I’m glad you can use this and that you’ll at least try the middle finger thing. It couldn’t hurt anything to give it a shot. I’ll have to order in one of those slides. Especially if they come in some cool colors! I’m all for a reason to buy something new! lol Happy sliding my man!

  4. Awesome my friend. Yeah, put your action where you like to PLAY it and you are good to go. Keep in touch and let me know how you do with it.
    All my best!
    Scott

  5. Thanks for the great vid. I’m just learning slide and now I’ll lower my action back to normal.

  6. @groovydjs Haha, my own kind are jerks…most people tell me im not like the rest of the 15 year olds they always see.

  7. Dude, if you do ever get back into the lap steel thing, there are some great, behind the bar bends that I can show you that make it sound like a pedal steel! Such great stuff. So, don’t give up on that pedal steel sound, I’ll gladly show you those cool things. I’ll post some real soon just to get you hooked! You’re going to love it!

  8. You are so very welcome! I’m glad that you find them useful! I do setup every guitar as soon as it arrives. I keep them all in great shape, unless I NEVER plan on touching it ever again until I sell it. Then it simply gets dusted twice a year. lol True, not much time for sleep with all of this stuff and doing all of the video order sales and constantly having to keep up on dead links on web sites and trying to remember to keep the wife super happy. lol But, a simple THANKS makes it worth it!

  9. The Fretlight guitars are kind of groovy. No real need for them with how easy simple theory is. It would be much better for you to stay away from one because it is a huge crutch. You will learn 20X faster just playing a major scale. Don’t worry about any of the other scales. The most celebrated guitarists in the world couldn’t tell you the difference between one scale or the other. Scales are the LAST thing you should ever learn (besides your major pentatonic scale). Just PLAY after that.

  10. Coil splitting is the thing that EVERYBODY wants. That simply shuts off one coil of a humbucker. It "SPLITS" it in half and you only use the one coil, and it pretty much becomes a single coil pickup. So, it will emulate that "Fender" sound. A coil tap will usually be put on a single coil pickup. It almost sounds like the nasty old in and out of phase switch. It is an extra wire that cuts the amount of turns or windings of the pickup and makes it sound much thinner, funkier and less volume.

  11. You often say coil splitting is not the same as coil tapping. What exactly is the difference? Thanks

  12. Great video Scott. I’ve been thinking about learning how to play with a slide. I got that video up.

  13. Howdy my man. Yeah. I didnt realiz how easy the slyd is. It seems lyk i been playing 4 years. im glad i got ur slyd lesson. That guitar lesson is gonna b out next week. 14. Hey Scott, Willcutt Guitars has a used Fender Aeordyne with an awesome flame top. It’s in their used section. I thought you might want to know.

  15. …a lot of great info in your videos. Thanks. What do you think of Fretlight guitars as a tool to learn scales, etc. across the fretboard?

  16. Hi Scott, thanks for putting the time and effort in to make these free vid’s – this one has been very useful as slide is something I have always been a bit of a mystery to me, how to get the tone whilst being fluid and smooth.

(I just had a thought …. apart from recording / editing / uploading all the free stuff PLUS the lessons and tutorials and any gigs etc do you also maintain and set up all your guitars too?? You can hardly have time to eat and sleep!!)

  17. @groovydjs Schools out for the summer so ya know, i gotta reshape my vocabulary LMFAO.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have nigel teach us some guitar terms scotty!

  18. Yeah my uncle was into the whole lap steel/dobro thing, and I used to play around with his lap steels some. Pedal steel would probably be almost impossible, as I am disabled and confined to a wheelchair, but I do love the sound of pedal steel!

  19. I wish I were amazing. But, I thank you so very much for the kind words my friend. You have a great one too!

  20. You are too kind my friend. Aren’t those Tele’s cool!?!! I love these things. The general public wouldn’t stand for such a MONSTROSITY. lol So, away they went. Narrow minds keep limiting the guitars that are available. Not fair. lol
