    A lot of what the other guy said. Just play through the scales. Once you’ve played ’em enough, you’ll start to know what each component sounds like and how certain licks you develop compliment others. Good luck!

    Basically you play around a scale (incorporate the notes of a scale). But really you play what you’re feeling.
