hey Mike , you made it real simple for me I am trying to learn, you are a great teacher, where do you live, let me come down for lessons
Thx!
nice video great lesson,… I use the 3rd 2nd and 2nd i get the most alsome sound , you might not think possable, there light electric with a humbacker pickup with a 24/.5 inc scale berch 3/16 ply wood 4.5x 9 incx1 3/4 red oak neck from southeast tx tree., small box not much room for pickup every one thats played it are begging me to build one for them its my 9th guitar
not sure if anyone replied to you or not but you just use a regular pack of medium acoustic guitar strings. And out of that pack he takes out the A, D and G strings (or strings 3, 4, and 5). So you could order them online or go to any music shop.
and can u send me a ebay link with some of these strings on your cigar box guitar tanks again
Hey you´re great I also want to make me a cigar box guitar but i dont know what strings i can use. My idea was to use normal steal strings from a normal western guitar but what string had it to be on the neck the thik one ore it had to be 3 thik ones i dont know. Can you help me? thanks
Well in fact, what I did was just muting the unwanted strings from DGDGBD so only the 3rd, 4th and 5th were able to resonate. =)
if you have a 6 string the tendency would be to tune the 4th string to a Min or Maj 3rd, this guy’s guitar is tuned gdg, which makes things a bit easier.
If you tune the the 4th string to the octave or to a fifth from the root, you can get a more country tang i don’t like it myself though i like to have the 3rd available so I can sound more heart broken
Adapting this to Open G on 6 string guitar, it doesn’t sound as awesome.
Gotta get a Cigar Box haha 🙂
nice riff.
Peace.
