Had fun playing this one but it was a bit tricky to learn with all the change-ups tucked into this song. For those who dont already know, this song is played using open E tuning. The sound of this is a little different from my other Rush covers. Instead of using just Amplitube 3, I used two amp modellers at the same time: The right channel has mostly Amplitube with the same preset I used for my other vids and the left channel is mostly Bx_Rockrack. The Rockrack plugin gives that "modern" heavy feel to this guitar sound. For the backtrack, I used the "Jammit" app for the iPhoneiPad to extract the band without the guitar. Its a great app for those who are learning or want something to jam to. Enjoy (hopefully)!

  1. I thought you were going to comment on the laminate hanging in the background!

  2. Appreciate the comment. I liked this song before, but like it even more after learning to play it.

  3. Thanks — this was really my first effort at playing in open E tuning. Fun stuff and now I need to get a good "Carnies" backing track!

  4. Thanks — I saw your vid after doing this and you completely nailed this song as well. Fun to play, huh?!

  5. That is a great solo. I loved Lerxst’s style during that 80s phase. Problem is, I have not seen a backing track anywhere out there for that song, and a good backing track to play over is an important part of what songs I end up doing here. I don’t like playing over the existing guitar tracks. I’d also like to find a good Kid Gloves backing track. That solo is a fun play. If I find either of those, I’ll put them up.

  6. would it be possible to try the emotion detector solo, I’ve always wanted to hear a cover of that, it’s a great solo!

  7. Great Song! Great Cover! Excellent tones as well! Rockin solo bro!! Keep em commin!!
