A failed attempt at learning banjo led to this guitar version of "Cripple Creek" in open G tuning (same tuning as banjo).

I have another channel that I use to help others to learn the songs that I cover. There are other tips and such as well – search on GivingSomethingBack it’s just to help others along as you do so well.

  9. This guitar is a Taylor 910ce. I love it, I’m trying to learn to take care of it (having owned marginal guitars for years, that I never bothered to humidify) and wish I could spend more and more hours playing it…not less and less hours, as seems to be the case. I just purchased this 8 months ago, and have had no regrets. It was a major life’s purchase for me, and it reminds me of the adage: you get what you pay for.

  10. Oooops, sorry…got my reply all muddled up. I meant are you the guitar player in your video, and I meant, I wish I could play the banjo as great as you pick the guitar.

  11. I mean, are you the banjo player in your video? Many bravos. I’d give anything to be able to play like that!!

  12. Thanks sweetysue. I responded to your comments a number of days ago, but they didn’t show up, so I’ll try them again. As to your question of "are you the artist, guitarmandoguy?" . . . I’m not sure what you mean, but that’s the YouTube username I’ve chosen and I have some other YouTube videos posted under ‘guitarmandoguy’ account and username.

  13. Thanks for the comment and compliment. I checked out your videos and was impressed by your own picking. I’ll be revisiting your videos to learn some of your tunes in DADGAD. I’d like to see/hear the fiddle style tunes you play in Open G tuning (I didn’t see any in my quick browse of your videos). Thanks again.

  14. I like the feel you have in this tune – very authentic. I like using G tuning for composing fiddle style tunes for guitar as it really rings out. I guess the banjo tuning gives it that great major tuning ring and slides and pull offs really work well. Thanks for posting.

  15. Really superb job. Got those slides down really pat!!! Nice and articulate, and right up to tempo. And your addition is terrific. Keep up the good work!!! Are you the artist, Guitarmandoguy?

  16. show off!! hehe… haha.. makes me laugh cause i am just learning this soong on banjo! hehe… I have a long way to go thats fer sure!!
