    The points comment is not about the performance or his band. I saw another video that has 3200 views (Myles Novak), 169 likes and less than half the "points" in the contest site. Just trying to understand how the points are so different given the metrics you see in You Tube that is all. And the guy is clearly a pro competing in an amatuer event which is like Tiger Woods vs some 10 handicaps.

    I got to know Dani and Danny when they opened for Holdsworth at Johnny D’s, and since then it seems like I’ve been hearing about them more and more. I’m sure that if you’ll ask your friends that are into guitar and fusion you’ll see that many of them know Marbin.

    Jack, the points accrued from watching the videos on the GC site do not carry over to the YouTube count – I speak from experience. It’s so unreliable, that I’ve steered everyone away from watching on You Tube b/c I’m not sure if a YT view is being counted.

    I also cannot see how he got some many points like over 2000 with only 431 views…Some entrants have over 2500 views and less than 1000 points. I think the whole point system is not working in the contest fairly..But that is GC’s problem I guess..Nice playing though..

    This is the rule per the contest "official rules". A "Qualified Amateur" is defined as one who does not (1) earn more than $20,000 adjusted gross income per year as a professional musician, based on the prior tax year (supporting documentation may be requested to verify).

    Either Dani did not know this or he makes less than 20K a year touring 250 days a year. Ouch, that would stink..
