Guitar Center has teamed up with legendary blues musician Joe Bonamassa for the 2013 Blues Masters competition. Im Matt Stottmann, and Ill be jamming along with the track "The Whale That Swallowed Jonah" for the contest — all Im missing is an enormous stage in LA to perform on! Its hard to really work the stage in a tiny recording room between a wall and a shelf!!!! For you gearheads, Im playing an Ibanez RG1570 with stock pickups through a miked Roland Blues Cube 60 amp. Thanks to Guitar Center and Joe Bonamassa for putting on this contest, and best of luck to everyone in the competition! 1. Thanks! You might guess from my vids that I’m a HUGE JoeB fan. 🙂 You do the song credit. I like the melodic and flowing way you created your overlay. Joe has a way of making covers his own and you seem to be getting there in the same fashion.

  2. I’m stoked that you enjoyed it! I love your channel by the way!

  3. two things first sound the guitar has the same sound the whole time…couldn’t you at least use the pickup.. switch for some variety? nice playing … but a lil repetitive try for some …. unexpected turns to your leads.
also syncing audio and video are tough be sure the bit rates match your audio file and vegas audio setting…

  4. Why thank you kind sir — I daresay I don’t think L.A. understands the cloud of musical fury that will inevitably descend upon it in only a few months’ time!

  5. Yes I very much like this, them again I like ALL THINGS that completely rock from the beginning to the end. LA owes itself a treat such as this

  6. Awesome playing!! & love the wall addition! For realz

  7. Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it — after all, music isn’t a competition, it’s about feeling and joy!

  8. Dude I really love your playing. It’s not all shred city, it has melody, but a few places you really it light up.

  9. Thanks for the kind words. The video and audio were done in one take — it must a YouTube issue. I use Sony Vegas 12 for video and Sonar Producer Edition for audio, and the video/audio were perfectly synced until after upload. I stand by this performance, and if you still don’t think it was one take, the 70 other videos on my channel and numerous other videos of me on others’ channels ought to be enough to prove I can play.

  10. Very nice job. It’s good to see you make the whole song an instrumental, rather than just an elongated jam. My only concern is that the video and the audio don’t really match and it doesn’t seem like this is one take.

  11. Yeah I definitely will check that out! Thanks again for the kind words — are you a guitarist yourself? If so, you should enter too!

  12. Check out Satriani’s "Surfing with the Alien." His melodies are very unique. You do sound a bit like him in this.

    Good luck with the competition!

  13. oh sorry i meant matt duh anyway great video great job ! i think this will go far in this contest very good improv!

  14. Hey man thanks, I appreciate it! Name’s Matt, by the way! 😉

  15. I’m glad you liked it — it was a blast to record! As for Satriani, man I’ve been hearing that a lot lately! I certainly respect Joe Satriani, but besides "Always With Me, Always With You" and "Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing", I haven’t heard anything else by him!
