  3. Hi Alex – just convenience really; I find it easier to tune Open D rather than Open E, and also it means less tension on the neck of the guitar. Open E does give the tone a higher pitch of course so if you want authenticity it’s best to tune Open E.

  4. Hello Jim, thanks for this tutorial. Is there any reason you choose to play with a capo on the second, rather than just tuning directly to open E?
