i wanted to learn romeo and juliet by dire straits, but the guy in the video said it was tuned in open G. i looked for a tuning video, tuned my guitar, returned on the video, and then he said it needed a capo. i don’t have a capo. i looked for a "how to make a capo" video, and i made myself a capo. as i returned to the video, my sister ran in the room and took the laptop saying she needed to work. FML

Arnold, no flats! just tune from low to high D G D G B D. If the tuner shows a flat (b) then the string is tuned wrong, a flat is a half tone lower, so if the tuner says Gb wind the string up till it just says G. Some tuners use sharps which are a half tone higher, so if it says G# wind down to G.

Im not sure how to do this my tuner uses flats so im confused.. Does anybody know how to tune in G but in terms of flats?

the people i know who do that do it to tune it faster or to make sure they’re tuning the string not too high or low.
i think thats why he’s doing it but i’m really not to sure.

The RYGB System has colour diagrams for Open G/Keith that show major, Mixo, Aeolian, Pent/Blues scales/modes all over the fretboard and all keys. The colour allows triads to easily picked out. Lots of other tunings, too.
