In honor of the late Hubert Sumlin, Gutar World has searched through its archives and uncovered this blues gem. Hubert was an incredible blues guitarist whose influences will live on.

  1. I think those who think Hubert is no good at guitar are not seeing his playing in the context of Howlin’ Wolf’s songs. By nature, Hubert’s style is very bizarre… very esoteric and mercurial, and he always uses the oddest timing in his phrasing. But you pair that with Wolf’s talents, and you’re on your way to having one of the most legendary blues bands of all time. Learn the music, and all these idiotic pricks might have something called perspective before they open their ignorant mouths.

  2. This guy was pure genius, and humble too.

  3. All you "math metal" fan boys take note!

  4. Blues isn’t about clean notes or fast hands or perfect technique, people who critique this guys playing simply don’t understand.

  5. seriously i like post hardcore and all the metal and punk but this guy is a legend he will have more talent in a pinky than you will ever have

  6. There is a commercial with that famous riff he’s playing is in. The original blues riff!!!

  7. Rip Hubert Sumlin, I didn’t even know you as a musician or guitarist for howling wolf, but damn you have inspired me to learn more blues on guitar and become a bigger fan of blues. Great performance! This video was a greater impact on me 😀

  8. i dont believe it. I actually am devastated, ive been a huge fan of howlin wolf and hubert himself and have only found out the news. Man it was all such small talk for such a legend.

The blues industry has lost one of its finest.

  9. R.I.P Hubert….Without you, the blues , Rock n roll, MUSIC would not be the same.

  10. I know one thing, he was a happy, go-lucky guy who lived his dream, and in the end, isn’t that what it is all about? Look at that guitar! How can you pick that thing up and not be happy? Which is one on Paul Reed Smith’s "Words To Live By" – "I have never seen someone play the guitar who is not happy". Amen to that!

  11. TAKE YOUR DISLIKES AND STUCK IT UP YOUR ARSE

  12. He was simple, humble and unpretentious. He gave his entire life to his art and was glad that young people of ANY color were continuing to love and play the blues. His playing was never "great" fron a technical standpoint but it was always true, sincere and enjoyable to listen to. Hubert was inspiring and a wonderful person.R.I.P.

  13. Hubert Sumlins guitar and Howlin Wolfs voice was one of the most perfect combinations ever.. RIP and may we learn the magic that came so naturally from them!
