One of the best ways to work on your slide technique is to take great non-slidey tunes and see what happens when you place yourself in open tuning with a pinky slide. The choices you make about which parts become fretted chords, which parts are slid, and which parts are fingers help you develop a more well-rounded approach to using the enigmatic and oh so emotive slide.
Additionally, Jenny Lewis is an absolutely brilliant songwriter. Her turns of phrase, perfectly efficient melodies, and ear for production are solid gold.
