  1. Who cares who he sounds like. His playing is still amazing. Every great musician has influences that define a part of their sound.

  2. I think he’s a great player, but…holy Eric Johnson, batman…

  3. dear god i love joe but that’s a horrible jeff beck impression 😐

  4. i know that hes a great guitar player. But for me his playing does sound that good. to me it sounds like guitar nerd kinda sounds, not that appealing to me.

  5. Exactly. If anything Joe sounds like Gary Moore. Not exactly the same, but still similar.

  6. the firsf thing i thouht of when i saw this was wow thats EJ. if anyone doesnt think they sound similar they’re crazy!!! now- im not an "expert" on either one…its like anything in life…some people are snobs about food others beer and some music….i guess my ear is not trained enough to be a music snob.

  7. A lot of people play with a lot of delay. I dont think he sounds anything like Eric Johnson.

  8. OK, so he might be better than me… 😉 But I dont part my hair in the middle. Whattas he got her, like 50k in equip? He’s got good feet!

  9. lol people here must not listen to a lot of eric johnson. im a huge EJ fan. joe really doesnt sound much like him at all. to the average listener he might because joe uses similar sequences in fast runs, but there is a LOT more to eric johnson than that. joe has far more blues in his playing than EJ does. joe’s tone is also not really like his either. maybe EJ’s earlier tones when he sounded more like clapton. i can hear a lot of differneces between them. just be glad hes not another SRV clone

  10. In this video, his sound and style is very reminiscent of Eric Johnson. But, a lot of other videos of Joe I’ve seen, not mention seeing him live…his style and tone is more like that of David Grissom. I wouldn’t be surprised if Joe listed Grissom as one of his major influences. He’s a good guitar player. I wouldn’t say that he copies anyone, but you can hear his influences in his playing.

  11. There’s no question Joe is heavily influenced by Eric Johnson. He’s said so in interviews. But to say it’s the SAME thing is ridiculous. I hear Peter Green, Jimmy Page, Billy Gibbons, Eric Clapton, and a lot of other blues rock players in Joe’s playing. Just like you can hear Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Clapton, etc… in EJ’s playing. To Joe’s credit, he’s not only a WONDERFUL guitar player, he’s also a great singer and songwriter. That he’s 34 and has published a dozen albums is amazing.

  12. This is the only footage i’ve ever seen of Joe playin that Strat! What a guitar it’s awesome, where did it go?

  13. BLUESDVDNL…….No……. it’s "what are you talking about".And your second question should be….."Do I know what I’m talking about".The answer is "Yes I do".All I can say sunshine is if you can’t hear it (Joes, Eric Johnson sound) you should clean out your ears.X

  14. Do you know where you talking about??? This DVD is from 2005?!?!?!?!?
