PLEASE LIKE THIS VIDEO IF YOU ENJOYED IT 🙂 This is my performance from the 2010 King of the Blues at Guitar Center. My Gear: -Gibson Les Paul Studio, 1992 -BurstBucker Pro Pickups -Ibanez TS-808 Reissue -BK Butler Tube Screamer -Echo One Delay Pedal -Fender 65 Twin Amp Reissue (theirs)
I don’t see the Eric Johnson influence at all, but this dude did a very nice job.
Yep - will check it out. Thanks!!
Thanks – different styles make the world go round ;)
Very good. I played the same song check it out when you get a chance. And I agree with the comments below that the judges place too much emphasis on stage presence when it should be about the music not whether someone is doing back flips or playing behind their back.
nice, you picked the same song i did, but you played very differently over it 🙂
@OldSchoolSkill Thanks so much – I worked a lot on all the items you mentioned for this contest and overall 🙂 Agree with the stage presence statement.
Its posted now for Guitar Center 2011 King of the Blues on my channel
very eric Johnson but still original sound awesome
Yep - me too 🙂 Are you going for it?
Excellent – Looking forward ot the 2011 perofrmance!
Nope – that is most of the tone you hear on the video. With some overdrive, you get a thicker sounding lead at about the same volume level.
Interesting. If you play em both on and lower the neck pickup volume…won;t the overall tone be too quiet?
Thanks! I like the neck pickup for pure clean. The bridge works for Robben Ford kinds of moderately driven tones, but you need to put a TubeScreamer on it to make it interesting (like the Cannonball Shuffle tone). If you roll back the tone control on the BurstBucker Pro bridge to get more Clapton sounding stuff, then you have to compensate even more by adding more gain to the sound. The humbuckers are a matched set though, and I usually play with them both on, +lower neck p/u volume
How do you like the Burstbucker Pros for clean and semi clean tones? I keep readin the bridge bucker is only good for heavy tones but this sounds nice! Nice playing bro
Hope it helped 🙂
Cool. Thx. How did Joey do?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks so much. The other guys you mention are definitely influences too. I tried to slow it down and stay more controlled on this performance, with the only faster run at 1:47 , so that makes sense .
Thanks for your comment on my King of the Blues performance video. Not sure that they have it in Puerto Rico for King of the Blues because all the performances are in store and they don’t mention Puerto Rico on their website. Also, they don’t have the contest every year, so I am not sure if they plan on having the contest again for next year yet. Anyhow, thanks.
your kidding me right, eric johnson has an overwhelming sense of knowledge of the fretboard compared to everybody you just named. If you know theory you know that any of those guys dont hold a candle to eric johnson. Maybe thats just your opinion but technically that statement just holds no merit.
When a guy is playing and bendin strings like this and sounds like Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Carlos Santana & Dave Gilmour,.. all in one tight package.. comparing him to Eric Johnson is an insult to this guys talent.. anybody can play 100 MPH.. great feel in your playing Andrew!!
It’s the third video on my favorites. For some reason I can’t comment links =/
-Sure – do you have a link?
Hey man nice playing! Very Eric Johnson! I like your sound. Would you check out my entry and tell me what you think? I’d really appreciate your input
