Soundtrack from "Goodfellas". Slow playing for tutorial. About the issue C major or C# key, this is what Wikipedia reports: The second movement, Jim Gordons contribution, is commonly referred to as the "piano coda."[14] Originally played in C major, the tape speed of the coda was increased during mixing. The resulting pitch is somewhere between C and C sharp. The piano interlude at the end of the song is augmented by an acoustic guitar, and is also the accompaniment to the outro-solo. The same melody is played on Allmans slide guitar, albeit one octave higher. Gordon does not improvise or deviate from the piano part; Clapton and Allman are the ones who improvise the melody. The song ends with Allman playing his signature high-pitched "bird call" on his slide guitar.[9]. en.wikipedia.org

  1. I’m sure that many of the people that post these piano tutorials do it with all good intentions, but unlike many of the other piano tutorials you don’t play it too fast, you don’t go off on tangents, and you don’t constantly break the rythym with explanations. Now that I learned this I can’t stop playing it … Thanks man, Great job !!!

  2. Its unreal hard to take down notes you play after the intro because it’s going far too quick through the chorus.

  3. This could have been part of the acoustic (MTV) unplugged version of the song from 1992. That is, if this is played one half-step lower (from C# to C).

It is said the coda was originally written in C#, but during mixing the tape speed of this part of the song increased slightly, resulting in a microtonal pitch between C-C#.

  4. This is in the correct key. The "more accurate" version is NOT in the original key…..

  5. Thanks so much for this tutorial–It’s really helped me with the song. (I like it in C# better than in C also. Sounds richer).

  6. …."jimmy was cutting every link between himself and the robbery…but it had nothing to do with me……when they found carbone in the meat truck, he was frozen so stiff it took three days for him to thaw out for the autopsy."

  7. Great tutorial. Although you played a bit too fast in some parts, it was still good. Thanks.

  8. ….ok well… I listened to the song… then I went on the piano and found the tune was in C# or close to it. so I played it in C#. we can discuss C or C# and frankly I don’t see the point. I already replied months ago to another comment about this. In C is also easier to play, that’s fine. I like it better in C#. you might want to send me the music sheet with the chords in C so we make happy all those asking for the chords as well. cheers.

  9. all tutorials should be this good, I learned this song pretty quickly and I am a beginner, great job again

  10. This is my favourite piano part of all time.
Thank you so much for posting this video, I really appreciate it.
I can’t wait to go learn the song now!

  11. I definately would like to learn to play this song on the piano as well. I can play the piano, but not as good as this, and would love to learn to play this song.

  12. Thanks so much, I was looking for the sheet music but as always, the only place I could find it was on sites where you have to go sign up and trade your own sheet music for it. And by the sound of it, this is superbly accurate. Thanks a million!
