Open tunings make guitar playing easier and more interesting. If you tune open D you have perfect slideguitar tuning. Open D minor and DADGAD are very usefull tunings too, you retune one string and get differnt sound and new options.Try Greensleeves

  1. I was a hot day so I was wearing Shorts they are short. Anyways open tunings are to much fun try minor, major and sus:
    DADFAD
    DADF#AD
    DADGAD
    You only retune one string!
Also they are great for slideguitar playing, certain riffs are much easier. Have fun and dont hesistate to google "open tuning"

  2. I’m in love with this tuning. I play metal, and I usually tune down to D standard to get that low tone I love so much. Now I can play all of my riffs with the simple drop D power chords on the low strings, but without transposing my solos on the higher strings. 😀

And, um.. Why aren’t you wearing pants? 😐

  3. u doing something wrong…it should be G major not G minor..listen to the song and then chek ur chord…its suposed to be G major…:)

  4. Yes, open tunings makes certain tunes a lot easier. Try DADGAD for beginners herre on youtube. OPen tunings are a lot of fun.

  5. If I’m an noob guitarist and have not yet mastered my chord progressions in standard can I benefit from practicing in nonstandard turnings?

  6. just play with it just play with it ….lol 02:29

  7. well Skip James used DADFAD in his famous blues "hard time"

  8. I thought i was the only one using this tuning…

  9. No its DADFAD which is D minor tuning. Skip James used it a lot

  10. LMAO 5:48!!! Nice job too tho, but ROFL!

  11. It’s good. Quite good. But he doesn’t finish the song. And, as we discover in the end, he’s wearing no pants.

  12. Still in D minor:

    Bb major: X1001X
    C major: X3223X

  13. I am getting back into open D minor, instead of D major. Your video is useful. One problem is that what you call F major when fretting at the third fret of the lowest and highest D strings with the others are open is not an F major chord. It is FADFAF. Try this fingering in open D minor: 333003 (low to high). That is F major while using two open strings.
